Why we built Lanikaia on Iceberg, not on Postgres.

Snapshots, schema evolution, and lineage are the load-bearing primitives of conversational data work. Iceberg gives us all three; relational databases give us none. This note is in preparation. The blog currently lists the writing queue rather than published articles.
